Posada del Caminante
Isabela is characterised for being a very quiet place, its sandy streets, its typical pavements decorated with volcanic rock, its signposts are made of engraved wood, The public lighting is designed with typical ideas using the cedrelo, which is an endemic wood of the island, as a lighting pole and goes hand in hand with the ecological systems that are fashionable on the island, so that any business idea or any type of change that needs to be made on the island first touches on the theme of ecology, because that is what Galapagos depends on.
The largest of the archipelago, according to INGALA data, it has an area of 4,640 km2, which in total corresponds to 60% of the surface area of all the islands in Galapagos.
The story goes that this island was created by the eruption of six volcanoes causing them to join together to form a grandiose island full of biodiversity, where you can find sea and land turtles, boobies, iguanas, penguins, birds, fish of all kinds, and the largest number of active volcanoes, three or four of which could erupt at the least expected moment.
Most of the island can be explored on your own in the city as most of the tourist sites are very close to the harbour, such as the wetlands, the turtle breeding centre, the historic Wall of Tears.
In the center of the port there is a pond called "Salinas" where on many occasions flamingos and other bird species can be observed.
